The Pascal Pulse - Issue #10

Editorial

Welcome to Issue 10 of The Pascal Pulse

Ten issues in, and nearly 400 of you are here with us, what a community we’ve built together! When The Pascal Pulse started, it was just an idea: a way to share news, spotlight fan creators, and celebrate Pedro with kindness and joy. Now it’s grown into a little corner of fandom we truly treasure, and we hope you’re enjoying it as much as we love putting it together.

We want this space to stay collaborative and welcoming, so we’re always open to your ideas, feedback, and even guest contributions. And because you’ve been such an incredible part of this journey, we’ll be announcing a giveaway soon as our way of saying thank you.

There’s plenty to be excited about, too, the Emmys are just around the corner (with Pedro nominated, of course), the Cool Fan Challenge starts Monday, and new projects are already stirring buzz. Here’s to the next ten issues and beyond, with all of you right alongside us.

💌 We’d love to hear from you, whether it’s ideas, feedback, or even guest pieces. And if you know someone who’d enjoy The Pascal Pulse, share it with them so our community can keep growing. Hit reply anytime, we’re listening.

This is The Pascal Pulse. And it’s beating for you (and for Pedro, obviously).

De Noche Revival With Pedro

Pedro is at the center of the buzz surrounding Todd Haynes’ long-delayed film De Noche. The gay romance, which nearly fell apart when Joaquin Phoenix exited just five days before filming, has been reported as revived with Pedro in the lead. While there has been no official confirmation, Pedro himself gave weight to the news by reposting IndieWire’s article about the project on his Instagram.

The film, co-starring Danny Ramírez, follows a corrupt Los Angeles cop and his younger lover as they flee to Mexico in the 1930s. Produced by Christine Vachon’s Killer Films, production is targeting an early 2026 start in Guadalajara. Rumors also point to the film carrying an NC-17 rating for its explicit content, making it one of Pedro’s most talked-about potential roles.

And in case that wasn’t enough, this comes right on the heels of Behemoth! being confirmed last week by director Tony Gilroy, making De Noche the second major project tied to Pedro in just days. Keep your eyes peeled, official De Noche news may drop any day now.

The Emmys Are Almost Here

Final voting for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards closed on August 27, which means all the ballots are in and now it’s officially countdown time! The winners will be announced on Sunday, September 14, 2025, live from Los Angeles on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

With Pedro already on the shortlist for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (The Last of Us), the weeks ahead promise plenty of press buzz, interviews, and red-carpet anticipation. Even before the envelope is opened, expect Pedro to be one of the names most talked about on Emmy night!

10 Years of Javier Peña

August 28, 2025 marked the ten year anniversary of Narcos’ premiere, the series that introduced Pedro as DEA agent Javier Peña. What many fans may not know is that the role almost went to Michael Peña, who had to step away because of scheduling conflicts. That twist opened the door for Pedro, whose audition had impressed casting director Carmen Cuba from the beginning, to take on the part. The timing could not have been more perfect. The very week he was hired was the same week Oberyn Martell’s shocking Game of Thrones exit aired, suddenly putting Pedro everywhere.

Even Pedro himself remembered the milestone this week, posting a throwback video with Boyd Holbrook and a photo of the two with Wagner Moura. A decade later, Javier Peña and his tight jeans remains one of Pedro’s most defining roles: layered, magnetic, and still a fan favorite.

Spotted: Pedro & Omar Apollo at Gaucho Bites

This week, Pedro was seen in Los Angeles hanging out with Omar Apollo and friends at Gaucho Bites, an Argentine street food pop-up recently spotlighted by LAist. The group stopped in for empanadas and choripán, with the owner even posting a sweet photo of Pedro leaning in for a snap.

But the attention was a little too much. After the post started gaining traction, the photo was quickly deleted. A reminder of how overwhelming online buzz can get, even for small local businesses just trying to share their excitement.

Still, it is a fun little sighting of Pedro enjoying good food and good company.

Avengers: Doomsday at D23

All week we were excited for Saturday’s Destination D23 panel, hoping we might finally get new footage of Pedro as Reed. Instead, Marvel revealed the Avengers: Doomsday logo and showed a video of the Russo Brothers with Paul Rudd talking about how the film is still in production and calling it their “biggest movie yet.” The only Pedro moment was an old Fantastic Four clip recycled for the presentation. No new scenes, no cast reveals , just a lot of hype without the payoff we were hoping for.

Mandalorian & Grogu

On the Mandalorian & Grogu Movie Front , Lucasfilm didn’t bring anything new to D23. The same trailer from Star Wars Celebration Japan was shown again, with no fresh footage and no mention of an online release of the trailer planned. For now, it’s just a repeat viewing for those in the room, though we’re hoping we get a version of this online soon.
