The Pascal Pulse - Issue #11

Editorial
Welcome to Issue 11 of The Pascal Pulse
September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time to pause, reflect, and remember how vital connection can be.
In a recent Psychology Today piece, the writer asked: Can Pedro Pascal help us prevent suicide? The answer is not about celebrity alone, but about honesty. Pedro and his family have been brave in speaking publicly about their loss, reminding us that silence around suicide only deepens pain, while openness can foster healing. The article points to a vital truth: grief is not something to “get over.” Instead, as Pedro has shown, it is something you learn to live with, to “grow around.”
That honesty is powerful. It breaks stigma. It also reminds us that even in moments of darkness, survival matters. Pedro himself has spoken about how difficult periods shaped him, yet he kept going, clinging to art, to storytelling, to the basics of staying busy and creating. In that persistence is an unspoken encouragement: when hope feels fragile, hold on anyway.
And there is another lesson here for us as a community. In fandom, it is easy to get swept up in drama or pile-ons, where criticism turns into cruelty and people forget there are real human beings on the other side of the screen. Many of us carry struggles that are not visible online. September reminds us that words matter, that empathy matters, and that choosing kindness over bullying is never wasted.
If you or someone you know is struggling right now, you are not alone. Support is out there 24/7:
United States: Call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, or chat online at 988lifeline.org.
LGBTQ+ Youth: The Trevor Project offers free, confidential crisis support via call, text, or chat at thetrevorproject.org.
International: The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) maintains a global directory of crisis lines. You can also find a list of international hotlines here.
This month, let us carry forward what Pedro’s story reflects: that grief shared can become healing, that honesty chips away at stigma, and that resilience does not mean never falling, it means continuing on. Most of all, let us stand for each other, check on each other, and remember that kindness is never wasted.

Pedro is in talks to replace Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Haynes’ Gay Romance (but it’s happening okay?!)
Joaquin Phoenix bailed on Todd Haynes’ spicy gay romance five days before cameras rolled last summer (wild), and now Pedro is circling the role. The movie’s called De Noche and it was shelved after Joaquin dipped, but with Pedro in talks it’s suddenly revitalised and hot again.
Meanwhile, Instagram just launched a legit Repost button (with a new Reposts tab on profiles). And guess what the first and only thing Pedro’s been seen resharing so far? Yup, an article about him possibly joining De Noche. Feels like a wink-wink soft confirm to our book. (Of course, this is just a speculation, but the timing is suspicious in the best way.) Especially with Danny posting pic of him and Pedro. (his last post, slide 19)
Fans are manifesting: 1930s lovers on the run, NC-17 energy, and Pedro in a fedora. Universe, do your thing!
But really, if Pedro officially signs on to replace Joaquin Phoenix, the explicit 1930s love story will go from near-oblivion to one of the most anticipated art-house projects in development. Filming is expected to commence in the new year in Mexico, setting the stage for Haynes to finally bring this daring romance to the screen with a new leading man. And listen - Haynes and the producers are reportedly willing to adjust the shooting schedule around Pedro, if needed, to secure his involvement!

It’s full-on cucumber season (aka nothing’s happening), BUT two lil’ photo blips just shook the timeline:
One cozy lounge snap with our mustachioed king in his “Suicidal Tendencies” tee, grinning at his iPhone with Lux. A perfect picture of siblings all bubbly and smiling 💜
Another snap shows him peeking over Danny’s shoulder with a wink, and it looks like him and Danny R. hanging out… which would be very on-brand if De Noche really is revving back up. 🌙
Instagram finally rolled out a real Repost button (complete with its own tab) and, as we noted above, the only thing he’s chosen to reshare so far is that article about him possibly joining Todd Haynes’ bold gay romance. That’s not a crumb, that’s a whole loaf of bread. Feels like a soft hint, directly from Pedro himself!

Now that I’ve got your attention, the news is dry, your feed is thirsty, and scammers are hydrated. While everyone’s busy decoding casting crumbs and repost buttons, a different plotline is sneaking into DMs across socials: fake “Pedro Pascal” accounts and “assistants” trying to separate you from your hard-earned money.
Here’s your funny-but-for-real guide to staying unscammed.
How the scam starts:
You get:
A friend request on Facebook from “Pedro Pascal” (pixelated profile pic, 2 posts, 7 friends who also love drama - seven other bots from another part of the world).
Brand-new account (few posts, few friends/followers) or odd handle spelling
Urgent tone, secrecy (“don’t tell anyone”), flattery to win trust
An Instagram DM from “Pedro’s social media team,” urgently asking you to move to WhatsApp/Telegram/Google Chat to “verify” you for a private meet-and-greet.
A very heartfelt note that Pedro lost his wallet/phone (relatable king energy), and you out of 8 billion are the chosen one who can help… with Apple gift cards, Venmo, or crypto.
The truth:
It’s not him.
He’s not outsourcing DMs to a random person
He does not need your Apple gift card.
And yes, maybe a phone or wallet has gone missing before, but you are not the lucky fixer of this saga. Sorry, hero. Maybe next time.
Red Flags That Should Scream “Block”
New or sketchy account: weird handle, no blue check, few posts, comments turned off.
“Let’s move this convo off-platform ASAP.”
Money or codes: gift cards, “verification fees,” shipping costs, charity “donations” to unlock a VIP moment.
Love-bombing + urgency: “I chose you,” “Only you can help,” “Right now or we’ll cancel the event.”
“I’m Pedro’s manager/assistant/publicist” with zero verifiable info and a Gmail address from 2011 - which is probably also stolen.
But What If It’s Actually Him?!
Then your phone is a pumpkin at midnight. Celebrities and their teams do not DM fans asking for money. If a genuine account wants to interact, it stays professional, public, and verifiable - think official announcements, verified accounts, publicists, agencies, or charities you can independently confirm.
What To Do (and Not Do)
Do not reply, click, pay, or send codes.
Report + block.
Instagram: open chat → Report → Scam or fraud
Facebook: profile (…) → Report → Pretending to be someone
Lock down your accounts:
Turn on 2FA (app-based if possible).
Review login activity and revoke shady sessions.
Set message requests to “Only people you follow.”
Tell your group chat and that one aunt who reposts minion memes - or that one grandma whose Facebook friends are three other grandmas and 20 fake Pedros plus one Brad Pitt…
If you already paid or shared info
Contact your bank/credit card immediately; ask for a fraud hold/chargeback.
For gift cards, contact the issuer (Apple, etc.) with receipts ASAP.
Change passwords anywhere you reused them.
File reports with your local authorities.

Stay safe online (and offline as well!)

Venice Film Festival, September 3, 2022
3 years ago this week, Pedro turned heads at the Argentina, 1985 red carpet during the 79th Venice International Film Festival, looking devastatingly handsome in a Brunello Cucinelli tuxedo. The sharp white jacket, classic black trousers, and that perfectly just-messy-enough hair struck the right balance of sophistication and ease. Styled by Fabio Immediato and tailored by Matteo Guerresco, the look was elevated with a crisp Giza cotton tuxedo shirt, satin bow tie, and patent leather Oxfords. The finishing touch was a Bulgari Octo Roma watch, gleaming under the Venice sun, even if the bow tie looked every bit the torture device he’d gladly ditch as soon as possible. And he wasn’t the only one styled to perfection that night. Sebastiano Mauri was also dressed under Fabio’s eye, and together they made a particularly handsome pair for the occasion.
But beyond the style, the night carried weight. Argentina, 1985 tells the story of the landmark Trial of the Juntas, holding Argentina’s dictatorship accountable for its crimes. For Javiera Balmaceda, who worked on the film’s production, the story was deeply resonant, a parallel to the struggles her and her brother’s homeland of Chile faced under Pinochet’s regime. Also by their side was powerhouse producer Victoria Alonso, executive producer of the film.
Pride was undeniable: pride in family, pride in a film that gave voice to truth and justice, and pride in standing together with beloveds on a red carpet that felt more like history than glamour.

Pedro Autograph Signing
Star Wars Autograph Universe (SWAU) is hosting an exclusive autograph signing with Pedro Pascal at the end of this month. This is one of those rare occasions where Pedro actually sits down in an organized setting to sign, no autograph hound chasing him down, just official and legit. You still have a chance, but time is short. Orders must be placed by September 8, and items must arrive no later than September 10 to be included. If sending in your own item feels too tight on timing, you can still purchase one of the premium photos or collectibles directly through SWAU. | ![]() Andy Luk SWAU owner and founder with Pedro on 8/04/2020 |
Bullies Make Me Sick / Protect the Dolls Fundraiser
This summer, Rebel Girl Rampage turned Pedro’s words “Bullies make me fckin sick”* into action with a charity drive. Proceeds from the “Bullies Make Me Sick” and “Protect the Dolls” shirts, mugs, and magnets went to Trans Lifeline, a cause Pedro has supported. Even though July and August are notoriously the slowest sales months of the year, the shop still donated $50 from sales across both months. Every shirt contributed $5, and each mug or magnet added $1— proof that even in a quiet season, small purchases can add up to real impact. You can still pick up your own: Pride and protection are year-round commitments and so is filling our closets and cupboards with a little Pedro-powered kindness. | ![]() ![]() |
