Welcome to Issue 21 of The Pascal Pulse
This week, we honor Transgender Awareness Week, observed from November 13 to November 19, leading into the Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20, a solemn day dedicated to remembering transgender people whose lives were taken by acts of transphobic violence. It is a time for visibility, compassion, and learning what real support looks like.
Within the Pedro community, this week carries special meaning. Pedro has consistently used his voice to advocate for dignity and humanity, reminding us what empathy in action feels like:
“It's important to protect people, especially those that are simply asking for the right to exist, in the bodies that belong to them, and in a world that they never asked to be brought into.”
And in another moment of fierce clarity:
“I can’t think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you except the right to exist.”
Lux has also spoken with honesty and strength about the deeper roots of transphobia:
“I’m not the only trans person in Pedro’s life. His heart is so big. He lived in New York in the 1990s, he knows a lot of people who are being affected by transphobia and they aren’t just trans women. Transphobia is part of misogyny. Scratch a transphobe, a misogynist bleeds.” Lux Pascal
Their words remind us that this is about real people, real families, and real love. In the Pascal Pulse community built on compassion, creativity, and connection we want every trans reader to feel safe, supported, and celebrated.
To our trans followers: You are seen. You are valued. You belong here.

Balmaceda-Pascal Siblings Lighting Up
the Latin Power Scene
In its latest edition, The Hollywood Reporter’s Latin Power List 2025 honors Latinos who are reshaping culture across film, TV, music, and beyond. This year, both Pedro Pascal and Javiera Balmaceda appear on the list - each making their mark in entirely their own way.

For Pedro, this recognition feels less like another milestone and more like a reflection of what he stands for. From The Last of Us to The Mandalorian, he’s become one of the most magnetic presences in entertainment - it honestly feels like he’s everywhere right now, and we’re absolutely here for it.
But what truly sets Pedro apart is how he uses his platform.
He’s consistently spoken up for those too often unheard - immigrants, refugees, queer communities, and anyone pushed to the margins. He reminds us that being on the “right side of history” isn’t just about words, but about action, empathy, and visibility.
In an industry that can sometimes prize silence, Pedro stands tall, unafraid to connect his artistry with his values. His inclusion on The Hollywood Reporter’s Latin Power List 2025 celebrates not just his career, but his courage and we couldn’t be prouder that he uses his voice and presence to stand for what truly matters.

Meanwhile, Javiera - though less front-of-camera - is carving her own legacy. As an executive and creative force at Amazon Studios, notably overseeing originals for the Latin-American market, she bridges the worlds of storytelling and strategy. Their shared Chilean-immigrant roots add a poetic layer: the siblings aren’t just succeeding individually, they’re amplifying their community and heritage through different mediums.
In a world where media often locks Latin American creators into narrow stereotypes, Javiera is pulling the thread and rewiring the tapestry. She’s putting power behind stories that are diverse, nuanced, and regionally rooted, but globally visible. With her leadership, she’s helping shape what the world sees when it looks at Latin America. Her approach also amplifies representation behind the scenes: women in leadership, Latin voices in decision-making, and creators from the Global South both in front of the lens and behind it.
And as for us - we couldn’t be prouder. We love a good sibling duo, but let’s be real: this family is a whole constellation. It’s only a matter of time before Lux finds her own name shining on those same charts, and Nico, the sibling who chose a different path, is already out there saving lives - proof that there’s more than one way to make an impact.
Together, the Balmaceda-Pascal family embodies what happens when talent meets purpose. Their story shows how strong values - empathy, courage, creativity - can ripple outward and shape culture itself. Watching them rise, side by side, reminds us that power isn’t just in fame; it’s in using what you have to lift others higher.

Lux Joins Tom Ford’s Next Film
Lux has officially been cast in Tom Ford’s long-awaited return to filmmaking and it’s a big one. Ford is set to direct Cry to Heaven, his adaptation of Anne Rice’s 18th-century Italian opera epic, now in pre-production in London and Rome.
The film boasts a stacked ensemble including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Adele (making her film debut), Hunter Schafer, Thandiwe Newton, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, and more, with Lux among the featured cast.
Filming begins mid-January, with an expected late-autumn 2026 release. Based on Rice’s novel, the story follows a Venetian nobleman and a gifted castrato singer whose lives intertwine as they navigate ambition, betrayal, love, and identity in the world of opera themes, right in Ford’s artistic wheelhouse.
This project marks Ford’s first movie in nearly a decade and represents a major milestone for Lux as her career continues to rise.

Behemoth! Casting News and Production Update

Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth! just expanded its cast, adding Alexa Swinton, Margarita Levieva, and Matthew Lillard to the already stacked ensemble, and yes, Pedro is still leading the charge.
Plot details still remain tightly sealed, but Gilroy has teased that the story centers around a cellist. Pedro stars alongside David Harbour, Eva Victor, and Olivia Wilde, with Gilroy directing from his own script.
Production kicked off in Los Angeles late last month, and the project is already shaping up to be one of Searchlight’s most intriguing films on the horizon. As more casting news rolls in, the excitement around Pedro’s next big role just keeps growing.

Sister Wife Energy Activated

We love seeing Pedro cheering on Oscar like only he can. Pedro had a little school night movie moment this week and watched Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein on Netflix, where Oscar stars in the director’s reimagining of Mary Shelley’s classic tale, a brilliant scientist and the creature born from his own monstrous ambition. It is a gorgeous, haunting film and you must see it, the movie is brilliant.
Pedro also shared Oscar’s brand-new GQ Men of the Year cover with a very on-brand “this babe,” and honestly, he is not wrong. Oscar’s GQ shoot is scorching, truly hazard-level hot. A supportive best friend moment and a great week for the Oscar-Pedro cinematic universe.

Pedro Named One of Esquire’s “Better Men” of 2025
Esquire UK has named Pedro one of their Better Men of 2025, celebrating him as “The Beloved.” The feature praises his rare blend of integrity, compassion, and modern masculinity, highlighting his support for the LGBTQIA+ community, his refreshingly authentic approach to aging, and the effortless style choices that have made him a cultural touchstone. Despite online noise, Esquire UK notes that Pedro’s kindness, principles, and the admiration of his peers speak louder than any headline. A well-earned honor for a genuinely better man.

Lux in Richard II Draws Praise
Critics are celebrating the Off Broadway revival of Richard II, and along with Michael Urie’s magnetic, sharply comic performance, Lux Pascal is earning standout mentions for her presence and precision in this sleek 1980s reimagining. Reviewers highlight the production’s bold framing, fast pacing, and remarkably
clear delivery of Shakespeare’s dense verse. Originally scheduled to close November 30, the show has been extended due to demand and will now run at the Astor Place Theatre through December 14.
