The Pascal Pulse - Issue #8

Editorial

Welcome to Issue 8 of The Pascal Pulse

What keeps a star compelling isn’t volume- it’s voice. Pedro uses his to stand with people whose voices are silenced or whose governments are trying to silence them: people in Gaza and in Ukraine; queer kings and queens and nonbinary baddies; women whose rights are under attack. This is why we adore him. He shows that masculinity doesn’t have to be toxic, that men can love and respect women without sexualizing them, and that standing up for what you believe in is strength - not weakness.

This newsletter is about showing him love and support- even when the asshole side of the internet come after him.

We’re also aiming to be more inclusive, so starting with this issue, you can translate it into whatever language feels most comfortable.

This is The Pascal Pulse. And it’s beating for you (and for Pedro, obviously).

This Sunday, Aug 17, Pedro Pascal hits Deadline’s Contenders HBO Max in LA for a The Last of Us panel with Bella Ramsey, Kaitlyn Dever, and the brain-trust Craig Mazin & Neil Druckmann. Expect big Emmy-season energy cast + creatives breaking down S2 moments, craft shoutouts, and classic Pedro charm. Nya Studios West is about to be apocalyptic chic, and we’ll be refreshing for clips and write-ups after the event. In short: dad energy, clickers, and charisma assemble

“Pedro Pascal Got Fired A Lot.”

Pedro Pascal on Fresh Air (Aug 14, 2025) is peak lovable chaos. Laughing about all the jobs he got fired from and somehow making it sound like a superpower. Tonya Mosley lets him cook, and he flips from goofy to heartfelt, talking dance training, immigrant family roots, and how grind turned into glow-up. It’s the kind of interview that makes you want to hug him and then rewatch everything he’s in. King behavior: getting knocked down and turning it into choreography.

Across roughly 44 minutes, Pedro walks us through the unglamorous grind that preceded the overnight-fame myth: restaurant shifts gone wrong (and gone, often), auditions that led nowhere, and the stubborn belief that kept him orbiting the craft anyway.

Tonya lets those memories breathe, and Pedro uses the space to turn misfires into punchlines and, occasionally, small parables about resilience.

A Rare Find: Pedro in Demeter’s Daughter

We stumbled across a true treasure—footage from Demeter’s Daughter, the piece Pedro mentioned in his recent NPR interview. Created by choreographer Tamar Rogoff, this 1998 full-length performance combines myth, movement, and storytelling on New York’s Lower East Side. Seeing Pedro in this context adds a whole new layer to the stories he shares about his early career and creative influences.

Which Pedro Character Would’ve Been Your Teenage Crush? 💖

We’ve all had that high school crush - the one you’d spot across the cafeteria, scribble their name in the margins of your notebook, or build a mixtape playlist for. But if Pedro Pascal’s early characters suddenly transferred into your teenage years… which one would’ve stolen your heart (or at least your locker passcode)?

1. Your high school locker is decorated with:

A. Dark band posters and edgy stickers.
B. Poetry clippings and song lyrics.
C. Military medals and motivational quotes.
D. Sci-fi and fantasy comics.
E. Rainbow flags and theater flyers.

2. The “type” you secretly swooned over was:

A. The brooding outsider with attitude.
B. The tortured artist who understood you.
C. The strong but vulnerable guy who needed saving.
D. The nerdy sweetheart who loved quietly.
E. The stylish bestie who always hyped you up.

3. Your idea of the perfect teen date?

A. Sneaking into a late-night rock concert.
B. Walking under the stars, sharing deep talks.
C. Grabbing milkshakes after a football game.
D. Playing video games until curfew.
E. Going thrifting together, swapping style tips.

4. Which teen drama trope makes your heart race?

A. The misunderstood rebel.
B. The starving artist chasing dreams.
C. The soldier struggling to adjust.
D. The shy nerd who finally gets noticed.
E. The supportive best friend who becomes more.

💌 Your Teenage Crush Was…

Mostly A’s - Dio (NYPD Blue)
Tall, dark, and dangerous. Dio is the gothic rebel with more attitude than detention slips. He’s the kind of guy you’d daydream about during math class, even though your best friend swore he was “trouble.” (And yeah, that’s the point.)

Mostly B’s - Ricky (Touched by an Angel)
Sensitive, soulful, and just a little lost. Ricky writes poetry in the margins of his notebook and dreams of something bigger than pumping gas. He’s the boy who’d read you sonnets under the bleachers.

Mostly C’s - Zach (Brothers & Sisters)
Your crush is a tough-but-vulnerable ex-soldier trying to find his footing. He’s got scars, stories, and a surprising amount of heart. You’d be the one reminding him that he’s more than his past.

Mostly D’s - Eddie (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Sweet, shy, and just a little awkward - Eddie is the nerdy cutie who’d lend you his homework and get lost finding the cafeteria. He’s the one you secretly wanted to hold hands with at the school dance.

Mostly E’s - Greg (Undressed)
For the boys who crushed on boys: Greg is charming, confident, and totally comfortable in his own skin. He’s the witty, stylish guy who’d help you find your identity - and maybe steal your heart along the way. 🌈
